PIZZ’ AND LOVE Salvation Army

Pizz’and Love is a social project that every Thursday brings love and joy to the community through a good meal.

We don’t charge for lunch (2 slices + drink), but we would appreciate a donation to the social cause that contributes to a better quality of life for people in situations of social exclusion.

Location: Rua de Xabregas, a street located in the center of the parish of Beato in Lisbon. It is known for its historic architecture and the vibrant atmosphere of the area.

The Salvation Army is a Protestant Christian denomination and one of the largest charities in the world. It was founded in 1865 by William Booth, a Methodist minister, together with his wife Catherine Mumford, in London, England at the height of the Industrial Revolution. It operates in 126 countries, through churches, charity stores, shelters, community centers, hospitals, schools, homes for the elderly, nurseries, recovery centers, vehicles and emergency teams.

The Salvation Army arrived in Brazil in 1922 and since then has been working with communities through its local offices (churches and social units), regional offices and national headquarters in São Paulo. It is present in the South, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast of Brazil.

The Salvation Army arrived in Portugal in 1972 and is present in the cities of Porto, Castelo Branco, Sintra, Lisbon and São Brás de Alportel (Algarve).
