Project “Animal Welfare”
The Association of Residents and Entrepreneurs of Beato (AMEBEATO), is a non-profit Association that has as its primary focus to represent, promote and defend the interests of its members and individual and collective entities. And its mission is the development and socio-economic, sports, environmental and cultural progress of residents and entrepreneurs of the parish itself.
We know that, even because of the many and diverse demands, animal welfare does not always appear as one of the first priorities in local politics. Topics such as health, education, and transportation obviously have much more weight in public management, but they are not (and cannot be) the only ones. To this end, partnerships can exist with a view to joining synergies with local associations, in order to safeguard the interests of the citizens.
Since the work of a municipality is of and for the citizens, why not attend to the needs involving the pawsaws that are the company of the citizens themselves?A good animal education will have a positive repercussion on the municipal citizens.
Mahatma Gandhi stated that “the degree of civilization of a given society can be measured by the way it treats its animals.”, and in 1978 the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights recognized by UNESCO and the UN was the first major legal achievement in the fight for animal protection. This statement puts in writing for the first time in history that “all animals have the right to be respected.”
On October 28th 2022, AMEBEATO sent by e-mail to the Municipality of Lisbon and to the Junta de Freguesia do Beato the presentation and identification of the association AMEBEATO, as well as an attentive exposition about the above mentioned proposal.
AMEBEATO hopes, in the future, to have a fruitful work in favor of this parish.
